Long before the current Golf VIII / Class A duel, there was the Golf II / Mercedes 190 E City duel!
The 190E City was designed to compete with the Golf, but the project was quickly aborted because it was too expensive and too wobbly.
The car was therefore offered at a not at all competitive price of 50k Deutschmarks.
Eberhard Schulz, former designer at Mercedes, recovered the project with instructions not to affix the Mercedes logo.
The preparer Schulz Tuning would have put into circulation between 4 and 6 copies with 3 and 5 doors as the '190E City', all equipped with 6 Cylinders (2.4 or 2.6 for 160 and 204chx).
This car is a unicorn. 2 are still in circulation today, a white one and a gray one.
